On the 1st July 2012, Cyprus will take over the presidency of the Council of the European Union for the first time. This, for Cyprus, as a new EU member-state, is a very special event and a significant challenge in its history.
The Cyprus EU Presidency is a unique opportunity to promote the Cyprus role and image as a reliable and equal Member State of the European Union. It is a chance for the Cypriot and European citizens to come closer.
The completion of this goal is partly achieved by forming awareness and providing transparency. As a result, on the 1st July 2010, two years before the happening of Cyprus EU Presidency, a preliminary website has been launched: http://www.cy2012eu.gov.cy.
The website will be improving as time proceeds. It will be available in four languages, Greek, English, Turkish and French. Visitors can find information on the various meetings, information about Cyprus, its government, culture, places of interest, maps, etc.
